February 18-21

I will be in New York with our Model United Nations travel team during spring conferences. I will hold alternative conference times on February 25, from 4-6 pm, by appointment. Please email me if you would like to schedule a conference.

Seventh Grade Social Studies: We will wrap up our study of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. We will be taking our Chapter 10 exam this Friday. Students have a study guide for this exam that was completed in class last week. I encourage students to take advantage of my office hours to prepare for this exam. We will also begin our study of the Industrial Revolution and the beginning stages of strife between the North and South.

As a reminder, my office hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during lunch.

We are in need of pencils for our classroom. Thank you in advance for your classroom donations.

Eighth Grade Social Studies: We will continue our study of the Cold War by delving into McCarthyism, the Red Scare, and the ideological differences between the Soviet Union and the United States. We will also begin to touch on the causes of the Korean War this week.

As a reminder, my office hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during lunch.

We are in need of pencils for our classroom. Thank you in advance for your classroom donations.

Very Well Minded: We will begin to end our unit on metacognition by taking a unit quiz tomorrow. We will then begin our unit on learning styles. Please encourage your students to use their agendas and complete their missing assignments.

Model United Nations:

Fundraising

We will be hosting a Pasta Night on February 21, here on Power campus. This Pasta Night fundraiser is a mandatory event for all team members. This fundraiser will also help us raise money for the travel team and future scholarships. Students should continue to sell their tickets this week. Tickets will also be available at the door. I will collect ticket sales Friday during class.  On Friday, students will report to my classroom (Room 505) right after school to help set the event up. Students will also be responsible for cleaning the event up and helping serve/work the silent auction booth during the event.
